Netty’s book

Netty has written a chapter in a book titled, ‘In the Sunset of My Days’. It is the fourth and last Anthology of the Melbourne Child Survivors of the Holocaust, who share their messages of hope for future generations, and are acknowledged as the “Last eyewitnesses” and the memory keepers of one of the darkest times in human history.

There are a few copies left which can be bought at the table near the Resources Room for $35 cash, and you can ask Netty if you’d like her to sign yours. If you miss out here, you can order them from the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, either in person or online.

Upcoming events

Please join our Rosh Hashanah service, also called Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets, and the Jewish New Year, 6pm this Monday 22nd of September. And please see the Events section of our website for details of the 2 services for Yom Kippur and the 2 services for Sukkot.

We encourage you to take advantage of the early bird price for our ‘Simcha’ national Messianic conference the last weekend of November, which finishes tomorrow (Sunday 21st September). The price for adults will then go up from $80 to $95. Please note that Simcha registration includes the Solu concert Saturday night 29th of November, so you don’t need to book separately for it. Parents of youth in Years 7 to 12, please register them as soon as possible for the Youth Camp at Mill Valley Ranch the same weekend.

And don’t forget SOLU’s ‘Down Under Tour 2025 – worship concerts at several venues in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria from the 14th to 30th of November. If you can’t come to Simcha, but want to attend the Solu concert on Saturday night 29th of November, please book using the link on the screen, where you can also book for any of their concerts in other places.

Havdalah service

In our service next Shabbat 27th of September, we’ll be having the Dedication of Daniel and Kelly’s baby Caleb Izayah Orellana.

Then at 3pm we’ll be screening the epic films “I Am Israel” and “I Am Israel – Mountain of the King”, which show the land of Israel, and the people who call it home.

This will be followed by our monthly Havdalah service at 5pm, to bring a close to the Shabbat with worship and prayers.

Caring for our community

Happy birthday Tuesday to Yoni and Judith, and Wednesday to Mark Glickman and twin brother Alfred. And happy 50th birthday Friday to Camilo!

Happy wedding anniversary today to Mick and Jennifer.

And happy birthday or wedding anniversary to anyone else celebrating this week. Let’s also remember Patricia Swinn on Friday, as it would have been her and Peter’s 66th wedding anniversary if he hadn’t moved to Heaven earlier this year.
